Printed Journals

Tapestry Journals will soon be available as professionally printed and bound books.

We’re delighted to introduce real book versions of children’s learning journals. Over the years we’ve heard from thousands of educators and families telling us how much they love our online learning journals and the important communication they enable between setting and home. We’ve also had lots of feedback that families would like to have a real book copy to share and treasure too.

We have teamed up with a publisher, Group Hugs, to offer just that! From April, in addition to downloading the PDF version for free, parents, carers, and settings will be able to buy a professionally printed and bound book version that tells the story of each child’s time at your setting.

Prices start from £14.95 + postage and packaging. The full price list is available further down this page.

We are really impressed with the quality and value of the printed books and hope you and your families are too!

How do I buy them?

When managers on a Tapestry account export PDF copies of the journals for parents and carers, the relatives can see an option to purchase a printed copy of the journal, alongside the option to download the PDF copy for free.

If you’re a parent or carer looking to buy a printed journal but can’t see how, take a look at our tutorial: How to purchase a printed book of your child’s journal.

Staff and parents can also order printed journals by uploading PDF copies to Group Hugs. This is particularly useful when it comes to ordering backdated copies. In a few weeks you will also be able to purchase multiple copies at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

Staff members on Tapestry can export PDF copies of your child’s journal. When they create that file they can set it to be downloadable by you. This is the PDF you need access to in order to buy a printed version.
If one is available for you, you’ll be able to see it by logging into the browser version of Tapestry, clicking on your name, and going to ‘My downloads’.

If you can see a PDF there, you also see a button saying ‘Buy Printed Journal’ next to it – just click on that to start the process.

If you have downloaded a copy of that PDF but it’s no longer available on Tapestry, you can upload it to the Group Hugs website directly and order from there.

You can order copies of the journals on behalf of your parents via the Group Hugs website.

If you are a school or setting and would like to have an example copy for yourself, you can purchase an example pack directly from Group Hugs by going to grouphugs.co.uk/sample-pack.

That includes:

  • Either one hardcover or one paperback example book. It will include a collection of observations for many fictional children, created by the team here at Tapestry to show the sorts of things that would appear in a typical Tapestry journal. These observations are not taken from any real Tapestry accounts.
  • A poster to display at your setting.

The content of the book is based purely on the PDF your child’s teacher, key person, or childminder exports for you. Please note that you cannot export the PDF yourself – it has to be done by a staff member and made available to you.

We recommend that you carefully check what’s included in the PDF before you send off for a book. If you notice something that you’d really like to change, have a chat with the setting/school – they might be able to amend what’s included in the export or make a small edit to the content added to Tapestry. It’s very unlikely they will be able to make lots of changes though.

Group Hugs aim to dispatch all journals within 6 weeks from the date the order was placed but in quieter times it will likely be much sooner than that.

A confirmation email will be sent when an order is dispatched.

In the unlikely scenario that you have issues with the ordering process or print quality, you should email Group Hugs directly at settings@grouphugs.co.uk. They’ll be able to assist!

If your question/idea is about layout, or features within Tapestry, then get in touch with us at customer.service@eyfs.info.

If it’s about the printed version (i.e. something that isn’t also relevant to the PDF version of the journal), then get in touch with Group Hugs at settings@grouphugs.co.uk.

If it’s about the specific content of a journal e.g. the text/images that have been included, then you’ll probably need to speak to your child’s teacher, key person, or childminder.

If in doubt, contact us and we’ll direct you to the correct place if we can’t help!

Yes, you can find a copy here.

You will also be shown it before you purchase a printed journal.
