Becoming an Ocean Superhero!

Tapestry HQ hosted some special guests last month. Representatives from the Marine Conservation Society and the Life Recreation ReMEDIES project put on an event exemplifying, among other things, the importance of sea grass. This quote from their website may be of interest to some of you:

“As partners in the ReMEDIES project, The Ocean Conservation Trust and Marine Conservation Society are working with schools to show children the wonders of the underwater world. Through an outreach programme as well as downloadable lesson plans and virtual content, we aim to bring the amazing seabed habitats into your classroom.”

Read more about becoming Ocean Superheroes and download their fantastic resources.

New Articles

We have a new article on the Tapestry site this month.

Author, Autism & ADHD Specialist, Adaptive Cognitive Behaviour Therapist & Speaker, Suzy Rowland, has written a piece exploring the importance of emotional support and trauma informed approaches and how this impacts children’s behaviour – Little People, BIG Emotions.

EYE Guide to…

In association with Early Years Educator (EYE), Tapestry has created a resource titled Communication and Connection: creating and maintaining effective relationships in the EYFS.

Written by the education team here at Tapestry, the guide is designed to be both reassuring, and a celebration of Early Years settings and educators. Key content includes:

  • working in partnership with families.
  • Monitoring children’s learning and development.
  • Building your curriculum and adapting your provision.
  • Supporting your team and their professional learning.

The hardcopy guide will be going out in EYE’s July edition, but you can also download the full guide.

In addition, Tapestry Education Team member and content editor, Jules, has written an accompanying blog post, explaining in more detail some of our thinking behind what is written in the guide.

Are Your Details Correct?

This time of year is an excellent time to make sure your invoicing details are up to date. A lot of accounts come up for renewal around September so it’s important to check your invoice is going to be sent to the right person and it includes the right details before it’s generated.

If you are a manager on Tapestry, you can see detailed information about your account by going to Control Panel:

As you can see, this overview page shows your subscription size, expiry date and invoicing address. If any of these things need updating please contact us on customer.service@eyfs.info. Quoting your most recent invoice number in your email will ensure your query can be dealt with as quickly as possible.

Tapestry Survey

Thank you to everyone who completed the Tapestry 2022 survey. The findings are now available on our website. The main messages are:

  • the value of CPD needs closer attention to ensure educators receive relevant training and that they have the opportunity to follow through within their setting or school.
  • the majority of respondents feel more confident using technology now than before the pandemic, but understanding the impact of it’s use on teaching and learning is more challenging.
  • Encouraging children to think and talk about their learning happens in a variety of ways within settings and schools, with two fifths using video to prompt discussions with children.

And congratulations to Tricia Hawkes, who is the winner of the prize draw from the Tapestry survey – and a £50 M&S voucher!
