Monitoring Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Outcomes on Tapestry

by Stephen on February 11

Many settings and schools now use Tapestry to monitor children’s outcomes from their EHC Plan.  Our Bespoke Frameworks feature allows you to upload assessment criteria that is unique and add this information into your observations.  Using Tapestry in this way can be very helpful when considering progress and coverage against these individual goals.

In order to upload your children’s EHCP outcomes, they will first need to be in a CSV format.  This tutorial will help you get up and running with this task.

For an EHCP framework, the recommended format would look like this:

Once you have created the file, it can be uploaded via the Control Panel (tutorial here).

Once the upload process has been completed and your EHCP framework has been enabled, it will appear in the assessment picker when you add a new observation:

It may be that you are adding multiple assessments to the same observation across different frameworks, for example, a child is demonstrating an achievement from the Cherry Garden framework as well as their EHCP.

The Thoroughness screen is a great way of following the coverage of your observations linked to a bespoke framework that you have uploaded.  This could be particularly prevalent in the run up to a review meeting, where you might want to increase the number of examples against a particular outcome.

Once you are regularly adding EHCP outcomes to your observations in Tapestry, you should consider using the Reflections feature to support your practice.  Think of a reflection as a space to evaluate how well children are engaging with your provision, and also an opportunity to collaboratively consider enhancements to your teaching and learning.  You could create an EHCP reflection for each child and use this as a working document to detail your support and the adjustments that you continue to make.
